Meet our new Board Members

Please join us in welcoming five new members to the Communities In Schools of Tennessee board! These individuals bring a wealth of experience and a shared commitment to our mission of empowering students to stay in school and achieve their potential. We are confident that their diverse backgrounds and expertise will greatly enhance our efforts to help our students show up for school and in life.




Shaina Castillo – Executive Project Specialist at Legal Aid Society of Middle TN and the Cumberlands – YLC Intern

Shaina is a current member of Young Leaders Council and reached out to CISTN about doing her board internship here. Shaina is a former teacher of 12 years, having worked at MNPS, LEAD, and Valor. She is an alumna of Vanderbilt and Belmont and earned a master’s in Teaching. 




Ben Kahan – Partner at KLLW

Ben is a founding partner at KLLW, an accounting firm based in Nashville. He’s served on the Finance Committee for a couple of years and is an invaluable asset to the committee. He brings seven years of accounting, risk assessment, and audit experience, including four years at PwC. He graduated with a bachelor’s and master’s from Vanderbilt. 




Dulce Quintero – Community Leader

Dulce is the former Director of Youth Services at the YWCA where she led the creation and expansion of Girls, Inc. Prior to that, she spent years at Youth Villages. She has a bachelor’s from Ohio University and an MBA from Trevecca. 




Daryl Curry - Director of Education and Workforce Partnerships at the Nashville Area Chamber. 

Daryl has a deep understanding of public education in Middle Tennessee as he oversees the development of the Chamber Education Report Card and developing education to career pathways. Prior to the chamber, he was in direct service work at Oasis Center, Martha O’Bryan, and Americorps. He graduated from the University of the South and has an MBA from TN Tech. 




Amber Rangel – Advertising Director at Nashville Business Journal

A former YLC intern, Amber Rangel is the director of advertising at Nashville Business Journal. She joined Nashville Business Journal in 2021 as an account executive. After achieving Chairman’s Club, the top sales award, she was promoted to director of advertising in the Fall of 2023. She is a business graduate student at University of Tennessee and is active in the Nashville community.
